Assignments for Wednesday, May 13, 2020

Religion Children will understand the importance of being patient.
Read Aloud: "Three-Toed Patience"
- Discussion: 
What makes the sloth's fur coat turn green?
When did you have to be patient?
Why is it important for you to be patient with God?

Reading:  Children will listen and respond the story, "The Very Lonely Firefly," by Eric Carle.
Read Aloud: YouTube Link - The Very Lonely Firefly
Who are the characters in this story? 
Where did the story take place? 
What happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story? 
Activity:Fold the paper into three columns and draw a picture of what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.  


Math: Children will use ten frames to compare numbers up to 12.
*Lesson will be done during our Zoom Meeting


Sight Words: Review the word "see." Have your child read the word and add it to their set of word cards.  Have your child use it in a sentence.  If your child is able to identify the word independently you can begin to encourage them to write a simple sentence on their own. 

Phonemic Awareness: 
Children will discriminate letter sounds they hear at the beginning and end of a word.

Phonics: Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Vv.

Activity: Write uppercase and lowercase Vv 5x's each in the notebook.
Draw and label a picture with beginning sound /v/ at the beginning of the word in the notebook.
