Assignments for Thursday, May 7, 2020

Religion:  Children will learn how talking to God can make you feel better when you're afraid.
Read Aloud:  Overcoming Fears

- Disucussion: 
Why were Jesus' disciples afraid?
What does it feel like when you get scared?
Why do you think talking to God can make you feel better when you're afraid?
Activity:  Draw a picture of a time you were afraid.  Do you think talking to God about it will make you feel better? Why?

Sight Words: Review the word "said." Have your child read the word and add it to your set of word cards.  Have your child use it in a sentence.  If your child is able to identify the word independently you can begin to encourage them to dictate and write a simple sentence.  


Phonics:  Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Uu.

Phonemic Awareness: Children will sort words with a short vowel sound at the beginning or middle of the word.

Reading: Children will listen and respond to the story, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," by Eric Carle. 
Children will retell the story in sequence order by using the big fat caterpillar they created out of paper circles.

Math: Children will use a number line to add and subtract.  Children will create a number line from 0 - 10 and use it to create their own math stories to solve.

Handwriting Workbook - Complete pgs. 56 - 57 Trace and write uppercase and lowercase Uu.
