Handwriting - Write uppercase and lowercase Bb 5x's each in the notebook.

Phonics - Draw a picture of something with beginning sound /b/.  Help your child label their picture.

Halloween Reminders:
Halloween Party tomorrow for the children!    
- Children are to wear their costumes to school. 
- All children must have a treat bag for the parade.  
- Halloween Parade will be at 9:00am and parents are invited to the parade. 
- Parents are also invited to the Halloween costume contest at 1:00pm where three children from each class will be chosen to participate.  

Note to Parents
- I have put in your child's folder a flyer regarding information on Lacrosse classes for boys and girls that Mrs. Nunez (classroom Mom) has kindly shared with us.

Week of 10/28/19 - 11/1/19

News of the Week     
- Halloween Party, Thursday, October 31st for the children and we are collecting $5.00 to buy pizza and other Halloween treats, please bring in $5 by tomorrow morning.  
Thursday children are to wear their costumes to school.  Please make sure that costumes are child friendly as swords or any other dangerous props are not allowed in the classroom. Also, all children must have a treat bag for the parade.  Halloween Parade will be at 9:00am and parents are invited to the parade. Parents are also invited to the Halloween costume contest at 1:00pm where three children from each class will be chosen to participate.  

- I want to remind all parents that breakfast is not allowed after 8:00am in the classroom.  I also want to remind parents that you are to drop off your child at the door in the morning and one of the teachers will assist your child if needed.  

- The sleeping mats are stored in your child's cubbies, feel free to take them home to wash whenever your please but please remember to return the following school day.

This week the children will be learning the following:
Religion -  Children will learn about Halloween safety rules.
Reading -  Children will listen and respond to the story "The Three Bears."  Children will compare two versions of the story "The Three Bears." 
Phonics - Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Ee and Ff.
Phonemic Awareness - Children will identify beginning sounds /e/ and /f/.  Children will identify beginning sounds in words. 
Sight Words - Children will learn to identify and read the sight word "can." 
Math -  Children will identify  and sort 2D shapes. 
Science - Children will use their 5 senses to explore and interpret information by carving a pumpkin.  
Social Studies - Children will learn about different kinds of families.

Homework - Tuesday, 10/22/19

Handwriting - Write uppercase and lowercase Aa 5x's each in the notebook.

Phonics - Have your child draw a picture of something with beginning sound /a/ in the notebook.  Help your child label the picture by having them write the letters of the sounds they hear when they say the name of the object.  If your child is having difficulty writing the word on their own you may write the word for them.

Sight Words - Children will learn to identify and read the color word "blue," the sight word "big" and the number word "five."
Math -  Children will represent numbers 1 - 5 by adding 1 more. Children will count in descending order.  Children will identify 2D shapes. 
Science - Children will experiment with different objects by using their sense of hearing. 
Social Studies - Children will learn about the traditions of Halloween.

- Tomorrow is the Hispanic Heritage Presentation at 9:00am in the auditorium parents and families are invited.  All children are to wear dress up clothes tomorrow, no uniform.

- Friday Oct. 18th will be Individual Picture Day, please make sure Mrs. Resto has the picture envelope.  If Mrs. Resto does not have the paid envelope your child will not be called to take pictures.  Children are to wear dress up clothes, however if you want your child to take photo in their school uniform it is your chose.

- Tuesday, Oct. 8th Class Picture Day. Children must be in full formal school uniform, no more summer uniform.  

- Wednesday, Oct. 9th at 9:00am Fire Prevention Presentation by Fireman Ivan and Fireman Bill to speak to children about fire safety. 

- School Closed Monday, October 14th for Columbus Day and Tuesday, October 15th for Data Day.

- Tomorrow we will be celebrating Mass at 9am for St. Francis of Assisi, if you have a pet you would like to have blessed during the Mass the children are allowed to bring them to school tomorrow.  If your pet is a dog it must be brought in by an adult and must go home after the Mass.

- Tomorrow Early Dismissal 12 Noon - Faculty Meeting

- Tomorrow children are allowed to wear their play clothes for $1. donation.
