Week of 10/1/18 - 10/5/18

News of the Week
- Thursday, Oct. 4th St. Francis of Assisi Mass at 9am.  Children may bring their pets to Mass for a blessing, however all pets must return home with parents after Mass.   

- Sleeping mats were sent home on Friday for washing, please return to school tomorrow morning. 

- Monday, Oct. 8th School Closed in observance of Columbus Day. 

This Week Children will be learning the following:
- Religion: Children will learn how to pray the sign of the cross.  Children will learn the cross is a symbol of God's love.
- Phonemic Awareness: Children will repeat a sequence of words.  Children will identify words with beginning sounds /a/ and /b/.
- Phonics: Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Aa and Bb.
- Reading Comprehension: Children will listen and respond to the story "Little Red Riding Hood."
- Math: Children will arrange and count up to 5 objects in scattered and linear configurations.
- Science: Children will learn to predict what may happen next.
- Social Studies: Children will learn how we all must follow rules to keep ourselves safe.  Children will learn about the life of Christopher Columbus.

News of the Week
- I am still missing emergency cards and forms from parents. I have sent via your child's homework folder more copies of the forms that some parents are missing and I still have not received them back.  Please make sure you hand them in tomorrow morning.  I will really appreciate your cooperation, these forms were due two weeks ago.  

- Tuesday, September 25th School Closed, Religion Conference Day.

This Week Children will be learning the following:
- Religion: Children will learn how to be good helpers.
- Phonemic Awareness: Children will repeat a sequence of words.
- Phonics: Children will learn concepts of letters.
- Reading Comprehension: Children will listen and respond to a story through Q&A and independent activities.
- Math: Children will arrange and count up to 3 objects.
- Science: Children will understand that to be good scientists they must learn to compare and observe closely.

Week of 9/17/18 - 9/21/18

News of the Week
- Tomorrow, Monday September 17th Early Dismissal 12 Noon for Faculty Meeting.  After School Program will be available for those students enrolled in the program. 

- I am still missing emergency cards and forms from parents, please bring in by tomorrow morning. Some parents only returned some of the forms, please make sure you returned all forms that were included in the folder I gave you during the Parent Meeting. Thank you so much for your cooperation. 

- Friday, September 21st our first school Mass will be at 9:00am.  I will be going over with the children the importance of attending Mass and how we should all behave during Mass.  Please remind your child the importance of sitting quietly during Mass.

- Religion: Children will understand the uniqueness of each child as made and loved by God.
- Phonemic Awareness: Children will repeat a sequence of words.

- Science: Children will learn about the five senses.

Homework - Wednesday, 9/12/18

Dear Parents, 
Just want to inform you that the Blue Handwriting Books will be assigned to the 4 yr. old students. 
Green Handwriting Books will be assigned to the 3yr. old students. If your child is 4 he/she will be assigned homework in the blue book, if your child is 3 he/she will be assigned homework in the green book. 
Please make sure not to include peanut butter or any other types of nuts in your child's lunch or snack.  We have students severely allergic, our classroom is a Peanut-Free Zone. 
Also, if you have not returned all the forms I gave out on Parent night in the burgundy folders please return by tomorrow morning.

Week of 9/10/18 - 9/14/18

Dear Parents, 
I want to thank everyone for your cooperation as we get settled into our new school year.  The first two days were very successful and I have great faith that the entire year will be phenomenal.  I want to remind all parents that all forms and 2 emergency cards are due tomorrow Monday, Sept. 9th, make sure that you have completed all the forms that were included in the burgundy folder I gave you during our Parent Meeting on Wednesday evening.  Also, make sure that all supplies are labeled, we have a bag of supplies in the classroom without a name, please see me in the morning and let me know which student it belongs to. 
I want to also inform all parents to please make sure not to include any food items in your child's snack or lunch with peanuts or any other type of nuts as we have students in our class that are severely allergic. 
Tomorrow we will also be welcoming Mr. Eric as a new Teacher Aide in our classroom.  Mr. Eric is the director of the After School Program and worked with the Summer Camp this past summer, he is wonderful with children and Mrs. Gomez and myself are excited to welcome him as part of our class team.  If you are interested in the After School Program you may see Mr. Eric to enroll as the program will begin tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 9th.  Also, I want to remind everyone to always check my class blog for daily homework assignments or class news.
