Religion:  Children will understand how important it is to help and encourage one another. 

- Read Aloud: "Helping Honkers"

- Disucussion: 

Why do geese fly in a V formation?
Who is someone you could encourage or help?
Why do you think God might like you to learn a lesson from the geese?

Reading:  Children will listen and respond the story, "The Very Lonely Firefly," by Eric Carle.

Who are the characters in this story? 
Where did the story take place? 
How did the firefly feel at the beginning of the story? 
Why was the firefly so lonely? 
How did the firefly feel at the end of the story? Why? 
- Activity: Draw a picture of your favorite part of the story. 


*We will start  a new unit for Math and we will be learning to count and write numbers to 20 and we will order numbers from 0 - 20. 
Math: Children will use a ten frame to count and write 11 and 12.

Science: Children will learn what is an insect.

Sight Words: Review the word "see." Have your child read the word and add it to their set of word cards.  Have your child use it in a sentence.  If your child is able to identify the word independently you can begin to encourage them to write a simple sentence on their own.  

Phonics: Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Vv.  

Phonemic Awareness: Children will identify letter sound /v/.
