Week of 1/17/22 - 1/21/22

  News of the Week 

- Tomorrow is Winnie the Pooh Day. Children are allowed to dress up like Winnie the Pooh tomorrow. 

- Please make sure all children have extra masks in their bookbags as they tend to wet them and dirty them and often need to be changed.  

- Please remember to check this blog every afternoon for homework assignments and Sunday evenings or Monday mornings for our weekly news.  

- Please remember to bring sleeping mats back to school.


This week the children will be learning the following: 

Reading -  Children will listen and respond to the book "Jingles, Poems and Rhymes."

Phonics - Children will identify uppercase and lowercase letter Ii. 

Phonemic Awareness / Phonics - Children will identify short and long vowel sound /i/.

Religion - Children will learn about God's gift of animals. 

Math -  Children will identify number 9 and number 0.  Children will learn different ways to show number 9. 

Science - Children will do an experiment and observe how salt melts ice. 

Social Studies - Children will continue to learn about the life of Martin Luther King Jr.  We will listen and respond to different stories about his life during story time throughout this week. 

Sight Words (4yr. old Group) - Children will read and write the word "funny."


The 4yr. old group should be reviewing the following words: 

Sight Words:  a, and, away, big, can, come, down, find, for, funny.

Number Words: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, zero.
