News of the Week
- Picture Day will be this Thursday Oct. 28th. If your child's picture envelope is not received before Thursday their picture will not be taken. Please remember to send in your picture envelope as soon as possible. Mr. Woods has informed us in his blog that children are allowed to wear dress up clothes, but no jeans.
- Our Halloween Party will be on Friday Oct. 29th. Children are to wear their costumes to school, please make sure children do not have any violent props such as swords, shields, toy guns etc... these props are not allowed. All children must bring a Trick or Treat bag as they will be sharing treats with each other.
- For the Halloween party I am asking for a $5. donation to purchase pizza, juice, cupcakes and other treats for the children. I am also asking for each child to bring a bag of candy or chocolate to share with their classmates. Thank you for your help and cooperation. If you have any questions please email me.
- Every Thursday children are to wear their Gym uniforms.
- Please remember to check this blog every afternoon for homework assignments and Sunday evenings or Monday mornings for our weekly news.
- Please remember to bring sleeping mats back to school.
This week the children will be learning the following:
Reading - Children will listen and respond to the story "The Three Bears."
Phonemic Awareness / Phonics - Children will identify initial sounds. Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Ee and short vowel and long vowel letter sound /e/.
Religion - Children will learn about God's gift of birds. Children will learn Halloween safety rules and of all the make-believe traditions.
Math - Children will construct 2D shapes.
Science - Children will learn about dissolving by experimenting with Halloween candy.
Social Studies - Children will learn about the traditions of Halloween.
Sight Words (4yr. old Group) - Children will read and write the color word "can."
The 4yr. old group should be reviewing the following words:
Sight Words: a, and, away, big, can
Number Words: one, two, three, four, five
Color Words: red, blue
