Week of 11/1/21 - 11/5/21

 News of the Week 

- Thank you all for your Halloween donations the children had a great day filled with lots of Halloween fun. 

- For the month of November we will be having a Food Drive to collect any canned foods to donate to the Notre Dame Food Pantry.  Please help out and send as many cans as possible. Thank you.

- Nov. 18th we will be celebrating Mickey Mouse's Birthday.  The children are allowed to wear a Mickey or Minnie costume to school. 

- Every Thursday children are to wear their Gym uniforms. 

- Please remember to check this blog every afternoon for homework assignments and Sunday evenings or Monday mornings for our weekly news.  

- Please remember to bring sleeping mats back to school.

This week the children will be learning the following: 

Reading -  Children will listen and respond to the story "The Three Bears." 

Phonemic Awareness / Phonics - Children will identify initial sounds.  Children will identify uppercase and lowercase letters Ee and Ff and letter sounds /e/ and /f/.

Religion - Children will learn about God's gift of birds.  Children will learn about God's gift of family.

Math -  Children will learn and identify 3D shapes.  

Science - Children will do an experiment to explore their sense of hearing. 

Social Studies - Children will learn about different kinds of families.

Sight Words (4yr. old Group) - Children will read and write the color word "can."

The 4yr. old group should be reviewing the following words: 

Sight Words:  a, and, away, big, can

Number Words: one, two, three, four, five

Color Words: red, blue

 Reminder: 

Tomorrow is our Class Halloween Party!  Children are to wear their costumes to school.  If you have not done so already please send in $5. to purchase pizza, juice, cupcakes and other treats for the children.  Also, if you can send a small bag of candy for the children to share with their friends since we will not be able to have a Halloween Parade this year.

Week of 10/25/21 - 10/29/21

 News of the Week 

- Picture Day will be this Thursday Oct. 28th. If your child's picture envelope is not received before Thursday their picture will not be taken. Please remember to send in your picture envelope as soon as possible. Mr. Woods has informed us in his blog that children are allowed to wear dress up clothes, but no jeans. 

- Our Halloween Party will be on Friday Oct. 29th.  Children are to wear their costumes to school, please make sure children do not have any violent props such as swords, shields, toy guns etc... these props are not allowed.  All children must bring a Trick or Treat bag as they will be sharing treats with each other. 

- For the Halloween party I am asking for a $5. donation to purchase pizza, juice, cupcakes and other treats for the children.  I am also asking for each child to bring a bag of candy or chocolate to share with their classmates. Thank you for your help and cooperation. If you have any questions please email me.

- Wednesday, Oct. 20th School Closed - Data Day

Phonics - Children will recognize the written form of their first name. The 4yr. old Group will begin to practice writing their names. Children will identify uppercase and lowercase letters Cc and Dd. 

Religion - Children will learn about God's creations and focus this week on God's gift of earth and plants. Children will understand how farmers grow fruits and vegetables and how we harvest during the Autumn season. 

Math -  Children will begin to learn about 2D shapes.

Science - Children will learn the life cycle of pumpkins. 

Social Studies - Children will learn about the life of a farmer.

Sight Words (4yr. old Group) - Children will read and write the color word "blue."

The 4yr. old group should be reviewing the following words:

Phonics - Identify letter B and its sound /b/.  Color all the pictures with beginning sound /b/. 

4yr. old Group

Phonics / Handwriting - Identify, trace and write uppercase and lowercase Bb. Color the picture of the "beaver." Draw a picture of one thing with beginning sound /b/.  At the bottom of the page complete the the letter line and find and circle all the "B" and "b" in the box. 

Note to Parents: Just want to let all parents know that today David's parents sent pizza and juice for lunch in celebration of David's birthday, that is why the children did not eat the lunch you sent in today.

Phonics/Handwriting - Identify uppercase and lowercase Bb.  Use a pencil and follow the arrows to trace the letters. Color the pictures at the bottom that begin with the /b/ sound.
