Week of 3/14/11 - 3/18/11

News of the Week
-  St. Patrick Day will be on Thursday, March 17th.  We will have Green Day, children are allowed to wear a St. Patrick's Day outfit. We will have a school contest for the best outfits.
-  We will continue our Author Study of Eric Carle's Books.
-  I will add new books to the reading bags.  Continue reading everyday, review decoding words 15 to 20 minutes every day.  When reading, ask questions to make sure your child is comprehending what their reading.
-  Continue reviewing math concepts, adding, subtracting, identifying and counting money, telling time etc....  


Vocabulary Words of the Week
1. camouflage - to disguise.  Ex. Many animals have skin and fur that is the same color as the things around them.
2.  stork - long neck and long legged bird with a long bill.
3.  Lent - is a time to remember all that Jesus has done for us.  We get ready for the Church's great celebration.
4.  row - to move a boat with a wooden pole.
5.  boast - to speak of with pride.
6.  enormous - very big.
7.  among - surrounded by.
8.  beneath - below
9.  fawn - a baby deer.
10.  deck -an outdoor floor of a ship. Also, an outdoor floor attached to a building made of only wood.
