Thursday, March 2, 2017 we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss' Birthday.  Children are allowed to dress up as any story character from Dr. Seuss' books.  There will be a contest at 1:30pm, all parents are invited.

News of the Week
- Tuesday, February 28, 2017 it will be Hippie Day and SuperKids Day at our school.  Students can come dressed as a Hippie or as one of the story characters from our Rowland Reading Program.  You may choose a character from the following stories: Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Bears, La Tortuga (The Turtle), The Elves and the Shoemaker, Hey Diddle Diddle, Hickory Dickory Dock,  Mary Had a Little Lamb, The Nightingale, The City Mouse and The Country Mouse.  There will be a contest at 1:30pm, all parents are invited.

This Week Children will be Learning the Following: 
Religion: Children will learn about the season of Lent and doing good deeds.
Reading: Children will listen and respond to Dr. Seuss's books.
Phonics: Children will continue working on identifying uppercase and lowercase "Ee, "Jj," "Ff" and "Xx."
Phonemic Awareness: Children will identify beginning sounds /e/, /j/, /f/ and /x/. Children will work on identifying rhyming words and word families.
Math: Children will compose and decompose the number 10. Children will continue working on creating tally marks while counting.
Social Studies: Children will identify the roles of different kinds of community workers.
Science: Children will learn about the states of matter.
Science Lab: Children will make Oobleck in honor of Dr. Seuss' Birthday. Children will identify the Oobleck as a solid or liquid substance.

This Week Children will be Learning the Following: 
Religion: Children will understand why God created us all different.
Reading: Children will listen and respond to the story, "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse." Children will identify the problem and solution in a story.
Phonics: Children will review identifying uppercase and lowercase letters Ee, Jj, Ff and Xx.
Phonemic Awareness: Children will recognize syllables in words.
Math: Children will identify and write the number 10. Children will compose and decompose the number 10.
Science: Children will experiment with traveling water and identify properties of water.
Social Studies: Children will identify the roles of different kinds of community workers.

- Tomorrow Feb. 13th Early Dismissal 12 noon - Faculty Meeting

- Tuesday, Feb. 14th is Red Day children are allowed to wear something red to school and no uniform.

- Tuesday, Feb. 14th we also want to have a Valentine's Day party for the children in the afternoon so if you can please donate $5. by tomorrow for McDonald's and other treats I will greatly appreciate your help.

Phonemic Awareness: Children will identify beginning sounds /f/ and /x/.  Children will repeat a sequence of words.
Math: Children will identify and write the number 9 and 10. Children will compose and decompose the number 9. Children will learn how to make tally marks.
Social Studies: Children will listen to stories about the life of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln during story time throughout this week.
