Mid-Term Review

Religion Mid-Term Review
- Know Religion words:  Blessed Trinity, Sign of the Cross, Prayer, Samaritan, Advent, Ordinary Time, Christmas, Holy Family, Bible, Lord's Prayer, Saints, Apostles.

-  Review from book Ch. 1 - 8.  Use review sheets that are stapled in your child's classwork notebook those sheets are based on the chapters from book.

Science Mid-Term Review
-  Know Science words:  sun, moon, star, earth, matter, pollution, recycle, reduce, reuse, constellation, ocean, river, stream, soil, light, weather, temperature, thermometer, shadow, heat, sound, sound waves, seasons.

- Review from textbook Ch. 6, 7, 9, 10, 11.  Make sure you review the Science Review Sheets from classwork notebook.  You can also look over the science questions the children have in their classwork notebooks as well.

Social Studies Mid-Term Review
-  Know Social Studies Words: family, group, country, earth, rule, law, history, time line, Native Americans, Pilgrims, settlers, neighborhood, community, map, model, address.

- Know how to use a time line. I will send a time line home tomorrow to use for review.

- Remember we do not use a social studies book, you must use the Social Studies sheets I stapled in your child's classwork notebook for review.  Before Christmas vacation I personally checked every child's notebook to make sure they were not missing any review sheets.

Math Mid-Term Review
- Practice concepts from  Ch. 1 Numbers, Number Words and Ordinals,
Ch. 2 Adding - know addition problem solving, addition related fact,
Ch. 3 Subtraction - know subtraction problem solving, addition and subtraction related facts and fact families, Ch. 8 Money - identify and count coins, penny, nickel, dime and quarter. 

-  Know Math Words and Concepts for:  more, fewer, greater than >, less than <, equal to =, arrange, ordinal number, compare, join, add, plus, addend, sum, equal, addition fact, double facts, take away, subtract, minus, fact family, cent, penny, nickel, dime, quarter.

Reading/ELA (Grammar)
Review the following:
-  short vowel words with a,e,i,o,u
- rhyming words - Ex: words that end with am, at, ap, in, ig, it etc...
- Initial word blend sounds sk, sl, sn, sp, st, tr, cr, pr, dr, gr, fr, (Ex:  crown, tree, drum, etc...)
- Digraph sounds th, sh, ck. (Ex: thumb, teeth, fish, shark, pick etc....)
-  Be able to tell what happens in a picture and write a sentence or complete a given sentence about the picture.
- Story sequence (put story pictures in order 1,2,3)
- Identify a complete sentence, know that a sentence begins with an uppercase letter and ends with punctuation mark.
- Identify, telling, asking, commanding and exclaiming sentences.
- Unscramble words in a sentence write in correct order.
-  Contractions
-  Nouns
- Proper nouns Ex:  words that name a special person, place or thing such as: Carlos Cruz, New York, Bouncing Boats
- Common nouns Ex: words that name any person, place or thing such as:  doctor, town, coat.
- Compound Words Ex:  rain + coat = raincoat
- Identify nouns and verbs ending with an "s" Ex:  train = trains, jump = jumps

- Be able to read High-Frequency Words: down, got, up, oh, in, and, yes, walk, they, make, help, now, play, too, want, don't, of, so, where, that, very, buy, was, her, said, with, every, day, put, she new, friends, use, could, says, out, your, when, night, from, eat, or, grows, two, gone.

Spelling Mid-Term Review
-  The spelling mid - term will have 25 - 30 questions. I will choose the words from the following spelling lessons:
    Guess Who Theme 1 - Lessons 1 to 3.
    Guess Who Theme 2 - Lessons 1 to 3.
    Catch A Dream Theme - Lessons 1 - 6.
   

Writing Mid-Term Review
-  The children should be prepared to use given words in 1 to 2 sentences or more if they can.
-  They should be prepared to observe a picture and write sentences regarding the picture.
-  They should know that sentences begin with an uppercase letter and end with a punctuation mark.
- They should know how to complete a friendly letter.
