Up-coming tests and project

Dear Parents,

      Unfortunately, I have been very ill and unable to come in to school.  God willing I will be in tomorrow.  I asked the children today to take their classwork notebooks home to review for their science and vocabulary test tomorrow.  The social studies project will be distributed tomorrow and I will extend the due date to Tuesday, October 5th.

Homework and Lessons for Week 9/27/10 - 10/1/10

Dear Parents, 
This week we will continue with our Family theme and children will be discussing their nuclear families.  As a social studies project I want all families to assist their children in creating a "Family Tree"  I will distribute project instructions on Thursday.  Project will be due on Monday, October 4th.  Our Family unit in social studies will also be integrated with religion as we learn about the Holy Family.  We will be having a Science test on Thursday on the "Sky,"  notes regarding this chapter will be available in your child's classwork notebooks on Tuesday for studying. 
Also, please check your child's homework folder for an up-coming "Apple Picking" trip. 

Reminder:  Friday, October 1, 2010 - 12 o'clock dismissal for Faculty Meeting.

Homework and Test Reminder

Dear Parents,
 Please make sure your child is completing the correct pages for homework.  In our Reading Practice Book there are pages with letters such as p. I8 or p. 8, I will always specify the exact page number to be completed.  If the page number has a letter I will state it on the homework exactly how the page is labeled.  For example, if I want p.8 just complete this page, if I want p.I8 then complete that page.

     Make sure your child is reviewing these words daily.  All words have been posted.

ITBS Review

Dear Parents,
We will soon begin reviewing for the upcoming ITBS examinations in October.  If your child purchased the "Spectrum Test Prep - Grade 1" workbook in Kindergarten please bring to school.  If you do not have this book you can go on Amazon.com and purchase a used copy for about $3.00.  We will be using this book for review so please send to school with your child.

Dear Parents,  
Homework for the week has been posted, please have your child complete only the assigned homework for each particular day.  Remember to sign all homework assignments at the bottom of paper.  Also, all assignments in homework notebook must have a heading.

Dear Parents,
          I want to remind you to please have all supplies and forms signed and returned to me by tomorrow Friday, September 10th
          Also, please make sure to check our school blog olqmnyc.blopspot.com for homework, lesson plans and important information that will be posted every day.  Remember your child is to only complete the assigned homework for that particular day.  The homework must be neat, complete and signed by a parent.
          Thursdays will be your child’s GYM day starting next week; children are to be in complete gym uniform on this day.  Please make sure you have read the letter I distributed on Tuesday night during our meeting, I have explained all our classroom routines and policies in that letter.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Supply List

Supply List for Miss Rodriguez 1st Grade Class

Here is a list of the needed supplies for your child, please bring to school by Sept. 10, 2010:

  • 3 marble notebooks
  • 2 plastic pencil cases (No box cases please)
  • 1 package of #2 Pencils
  • 1 pencil eraser
  • 1 box of 48 Crayola crayons
  • 1 pack of washable Crayola markers
  • 1 pack of Crayola colored pencils
  • 1 pack of water colors
  • 2 Elmer's white glue
  • 4 glue sticks
  • 1 child safety scissor
  • 1 pack of Construction Paper
  • 1 sturdy Plastic Folder (for homework and notes to take home and bring back throughout the entire year)
  • 6 pocket folders - plain solid colors
  • 1 box of baby wipes
  • 1 anti-bacterial hand sanitizer
  • 1 paper towel roll
