News of the Week 
Happy Catholic Schools Week!
- Tuesday, January 28th 8:30am - 11:00am we will have Open House and parents are allowed to visit and sit in the back of the classroom to observe the everyday teaching that goes on in our rooms daily.

- Wednesday, January 29th 9:00am - 10:30am Religion Fair for all grades. Parents welcome to attend.

- Friday, January 31st Early Dismissal 12 Noon.  Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held from 2:00pm - 6:00pm.

This week the children will be learning the following:
Religion - Children will learn about the importance of helping those in need.  Children will identify our different feelings and create a book. 
Reading -  Children will listen and respond to different rhymes, jingles and poems. 
Phonics - Children will identify uppercase and lowercase letter Ll.
Phonemic Awareness -  Children will identify beginning sound /l/.  
Sight Words - Children will learn to identify and read the sight word "help" and "here."
Math -  Children will decompose and compose number 8. Children will tally 8 objects.  Children will identify the number 0.  
Social Studies - Children will learn about the roles of community helpers.

This week the children will be learning the following:
Religion - Children will learn about God's gift of people.  Children will listen and respond to the Bible story "Noah's Ark."
Reading -  Children will listen and respond to different rhymes, jingles and poems. 
Phonics - Children will identify uppercase and lowercase letter Kk.
Phonemic Awareness -  Children will identify beginning sound /k/.  Children will identify rhyming words.  
Sight Words - Children will learn to identify and read the sight word "help."
Math -  Children will decompose and compose number 8. Children will tally 8 objects.
Science - Children will do an experiment to show how salt melts ice. 
Social Studies - Children will learn about the roles of community helpers.

- Tomorrow we will be celebrating "NATIONAL HAT DAY" children are allowed to wear a creative hat to school.  There will be a contest at 9:00am for the 3 most creative hats in each classroom.  Parents welcome to come. Also, children must wear their uniform tomorrow.

- Please remember that all children must have their flu vaccine to be able to attend school tomorrow. If your child is 59 months of age or younger and has not been vaccinated against the flu they may not attend class.

This week the children will be learning the following:
Religion -  Children will learn about the Three Kings.  Children will learn about God's gift of animals. 
Reading -  Children will listen and respond to the story "The Shoemaker and the Elves" and "The Mitten."
Phonics - Children will identify uppercase and lowercase letters Hh and Ii.
Phonemic Awareness - Children will identify short and long vowel sounds for the letter Ii.  Children will identify beginning sound for /h/.  Children will identify rhyming words.  
Sight Words - Children will learn to identify and read the sight word "funny." 
Math -  Children will identify numbers 6 and 7. Children will count objects to 7. Children will decompose and compose numbers 6 and 7. 
Science - Children will learn about different forms of weather.  Children will create rain in a glass bottle.
