Reminders:
-  Tomorrow is "Hippy Day" no uniform tomorrow.  Children may wear their "Tie Dye" shirts, jeans and any Hippie accessories you would like to add to their outfits. Their will be a costume contest.

-  This week I will be adding new decodable books to their Reading Bags; continue reading daily and review dolch words stapled in their homework notebooks.

- Also, this week we will be learning about the Changes in the Human Body in Science; I would like all the children to bring in a baby picture by Wednesday.


Vocabulary Words of the Week
1.  corner (vertex) - the place where two sides meet.
2.  plane figures -  a closed flat shape.
3.  solid figure - shapes that are not flat.

-  Just want to remind everyone that Social Studies map is due on Tuesday.  Also, for our science experiment I would like all the children to bring in a plain white T-shirt and hanger on Tuesday as well.

Reminders:
-  Valentine's Day tomorrow -- Children are allowed to wear RED to school, NO UNIFORM tomorrow.
-  8th Grade Valentine's Bake Sale will take place tomorrow, the children may bring money to buy some Valentine baked goods.
-  Continue reviewing Dolch Words. 
-  The children received new books for their bags.  They should be reading these books everyday along with other books from home for at least 15 - 20 minutes a day.
-  Please make sure children have all needed supplies everyday, especially sharpened pencils and erasers.  Pencils are to be sharpened at home.

Week of 2/7/11 - 2/11/11

Reminders:
-  The dolch words that were stapled to the old homework notebooks need to be stapled into their new homework notebooks.  Please make sure these words are reviewed daily.  If you need a new copy of the words please let me know.
-  Children should be reading daily 15 - 20 minutes.
-  I encourage the children to do free creative writing at home.  Pick anything to write about, a favorite pet, a special day, a friend etc.... Encourage the children to write neatly, use uppercase letters at the beginning of a sentence and use end marks appropriately.
-  Also, we are finishing up on "Money" and will be going into "Time." Review "counting on" with coins for a few minutes everyday.  Going supermarket shopping can be a wonderful lesson review on money.
