Week of 10/22/18 - 10/26/18

News of the Week
-  On Oct. 31st we will be celebrating Halloween.  Children will be allowed to wear their costumes to school on this day.  Please refrain from any costumes with weapons, as swords and guns are not allowed.  We will have a Halloween Parade at 8:30am around the school building to the upper grade classrooms and parents are allowed to attend the parade.  After the parade the parents leave and the children will continue with their Halloween festivities for the day in the classroom.  I am collecting $5. to buy pizza and other Halloween treats for the children.  

- Individual Picture Day will be November 6th.  Picture envelopes must be handed to Mrs. Resto by Nov. 5th.

This Week Children will be learning the following:
- Religion: Safe Environment Curriculum will be covered throughout the week.
- Phonemic Awareness: Children will identify words with beginning sounds /c/ and /d/.
- Phonics: Children will identify uppercase and lowercase Cc and Dd.
- Reading Comprehension: Children will listen and respond to the story "The Three Little Bears."
- Math: Children will represent numerals 1-5 using objects, pictures and numbers.
- Science: Children will experiment by using their sense of smell only to identify objects.
- Social Studies: Children will learn about traditions.  Children will learn about the traditions of Halloween.
- Sight Words: Children will learn to identify and read the words "big" and "blue."
