Mid-Term Review

I hope everyone is enjoying their vacation and I hope everyone is also reviewing daily!

Reminders:
-  Review all vocabulary words in classwork notebooks.
-  Study Review sheets for Religion, Science and Social Studies in classwork notebooks.
-  Review identifying sentences in Grammar books --- Telling, Asking, Commanding and Exclaiming sentences.  Make sure children understand all sentences begin with an uppercase letter and end with a punctuation mark.
-  Complete review sheets that were sent home.
-  Read books from reading bags and home library for at least 15 min. a day.  After reading ask your child comprehending questions.  I know they are able to read those books but I want them to review the skill of comprehending what they are reading.

Reading Tips (Some Questions to ask your child during and after reading a book)
-  Make predictions
    a.  What do you think this story will be about by reading the title?
    b.  What do you think will happen next in the story?
    c.  Confirm predictions
-  What is the main idea?
-  What are some details?
-  What happened First, Next, and Last in the story?
-  What is the setting?  (Where did the story take place?)
-  What is the problem and solution in the story?
-  When you come to a word you cannot read blend all the sounds together.
-  If you do not know the meaning of any particular word, use a Children Dictionary to look up the word and use it in your own sentence.  Also, identify synonyms and antonyms for that word for better understanding.
